Information on Wax and Candles

100% Pure Beeswax Candles

Besides the natural beauty and romance of 100% pure beeswax candles, there are a number of reasons you should consider switching to 100% pure beeswax candles.

100% Pure Beeswax candles have a high melting point (in fact highest among all known waxes) which results in a significantly longer burn time (2 – 5 times). This high melt point causes them to burn brighter – in fact they are the only candles to emit naturally bright light of the same spectrum as the sun. This is probably why in ancient times it was said that burning a beeswax candle is like “Bringing the Sun indoors”. This high melt point causes the candle flame to burn at such a high temperature that it produces negative ionswhich purify and cleanse the air of odours, dust and pollen particles. Truly a natural ionizer.

The natural clour of 100% pure beeswax candles is determined by the flowers the bees have visited. The colours can vary from brown to green to yellow, white and all variation in between.

Be Aware !! .. Candles labelled “Beeswax” may actually be parafin candles with as little as 5% beeswax. Be sure to look for 100% pure beeswax candles.

For every 100 Kg of Honey , a beekeeper can only collect about 1 to 2 Kg of beeswax… and it takes the bees approximately 500,000 Km of flying to collect enough nectar to produce 1 Kg of wax. Truly a rare commodity.

Over time, 100% pure beeswax candles develop a white powdery film on them known as “Bloom”. All 100% beeswax candles will bloom and is deemed a very desirable feature .. adding to their charm. For those who don’t like this look, the film can simply be brushed off with a soft lint free cloth.
